Currently, the "Edit->Filters" menu item should let you create a new
filter - fill in "Filter name" and "Filter string", and click on the
"New" button - but "OK" doesn't make it the current display filter, nor
does "Apply", unlike the way the filter dialog box that pops up when you
click on "Filter:" at the bottom of the window.

Arguably, they should.
